A PIECE OF LANCASTER HISTORY, lovingly restored by locals

The Stehman Bros. Building was constructed in the 1920s, on the site rich with Lancaster history. Over the last two centuries, this location has hosted homes, a stable, an ice cream factory, a confectioner’s shop, a hardware store, and a punk record store.

Marilyn’s a Lancaster native whose career spans construction, real estate, architecture, design, and teaching. Her architecture + design practice, Runcible Studios, makes its home here at Stehman Bros.

She’s the mastermind behind the renovation…although sometimes, as you can see, she also gets her hands dirty around here!

Marilyn ran a similar space in Boston, MA where she collected a group of creatives, professionals, and a powerlifting training facility all in one somewhat decrepit building. The camaraderie of those days - as well as the need for heads-down creative work space - inspired her to create a similar space here in Lancaster.

We’re constantly making improvements around here…but we’re off to a good start with the renovation of the main working space and offices.

Uncovering the 100 year old original Douglas Fir floors was our biggest win!
